Iidesjärvi is known as a great bird lake, but it bears the scars of human actions. Nekala's former landfill was located next to it, and so much waste has ended up in Iidesjärvi that it is not even recommended to swim in Iidesjärvi.

Come on a trip to get to know the wounds of the former landfill and offer a gesture of beauty to this wounded garden as a reminder that it has not been forgotten.
Time and place: Tuesday 10.9. at 17-19.30, meeting place outside the main entrance of the Moomin Museum (Yliopistonkatu 55).
The event is organised by: the Ninjosanto Nature and City Guides & the Youth Research Association, Planetary Youth Research.
We start with a 30min hike to the dump, spend some time at the dump and finally return the same way. We will be guided by environmental biologist and teacher Tuomas Lilleberg and research professor and dance-movement therapist Sofia Laine.
The event is open to all and it will be held in English, but you are very welcome also if you don´t speak English.
You do not need to register for the event and it is free of charge.
The event is part of Nature Forum Week.
Iidesjärvi tunnetaan hienona lintujärvenä, mutta se kantaa ihmistekojen haavaa. Nekalan entinen kaatopaikka sijaitsi sen vieressä, ja Iidesjärveen ja kaatopaikan maahan on päätynyt yhtä sun toista jätettä, niin, ettei Iidesjärvessä suositella edes uimaan. Tule matkalle tutustumaan entisen kaatopaikan haavoihin ja tarjoamaan kauneuden ele tälle haavoittuneelle puutarhalle muistutukseksi siitä, ettei se ole unohdettu.
Tapahtuman aika ja paikka: tiistai 10.9.2024 klo 17-19.30. Tapaaminen Muumimuseon pääsisäänkäynnillä ulkona (Yliopistonkatu 55).
Matkamme alkaa n. 30min patikoinnilla kaatopaikalle, vietämme jonkin aikaa kaatopaikalla ja palaamme lopuksi samaa reittiä takaisin. Oppaina matkalla ovat ympäristöbiologi ja opettaja Tuomas Lilleberg sekä tutkimusprofessori ja tanssi-liiketerapeutti Sofia Laine.
Tapahtuma on kaikille avoin. Tapahtuma järjestetään englanniksi, mutta olet erittäin tervetullut myös mukaan vaikket puhuisi englantia.
