Kukko Boys 25 years – Lieksa visiting tour

Kukko Boys entertainment orchestra celebrates its 25th anniversary with the Lieksa visiting tour in summer 2026, bringing music, joy and Karelian hospitality to different parts of Finland.

Founded in 2001, Kukko Boys is known for its diverse repertoire and refined sound. The band's skillfully arranged music transports listeners to the worlds of Finnish pop, pop, jazz and rock. The playing combines strong professionalism, a cheerful performance approach and influences from traditional dance music as well as jazz harmonies and improvisation.

On the 25th anniversary tour, a nine-piece ensemble will take to the stage, playing two trumpets, trombone, saxophone, guitar, bass, drums, percussion and vocals: soloist Timo Turunto. The end result is an energetic and nuanced concert that is worth experiencing!

In the free daytime concerts of the tour, the audience will be able to enjoy entertaining live music and at the same time get to know the stories, sights and unique atmosphere of Lieksa. The goal is to spread the joyful Lieksa spirit throughout Finland and invite people to explore the eastern pearl of North Karelia and Pielinen.

It should be mentioned that the Kukko Boys also have a reigning world champion in tuba throwing. In addition to the music, the touring audience will have to solve one of the great riddles of the summer: which of the orchestra's musicians is the best tuba thrower in the world?

Timo Turunto is a singer and musician originally from Lieksa, currently living in Kuopio. His musical world extends from opera and lieder to metal, rock, pop and party gigs, as well as his own music. Timo actively performs with the Kukko Boys brass band, which includes several of his childhood friends from Lieksa. The band's diverse repertoire and long experience take him to concert halls as well as the most boisterous party gigs. Timo is a music pedagogue (Turku Academy of Arts) and a music and art pedagogue (YAMK) (Savonia). In his day job, he works as a singing teacher at the Ylä-Savo Music Institute. He also composes and writes his own music.
