21.9.2025

15.00 - 17.00

Tampere-talo Oy, Yliopistonkatu 55, 33100 Tampere

Afternoon of Fauns takes you on a soaring journey. Expect a medley of highlights, from virtuosic solos and lush, romantic delicacies to an all-out disco finale to the beat of the ’90s.

Peter Maxwell Davies: Sea Eagle, Op.103

Aleksi Mäkimattila, horn

Jean Sibelius: Six Pieces for Violin and Piano, Op.79

Katri Nikkanen, violin and Raili Peltonen, piano

Madeleine Dring: Trio for Flute, Oboe and Piano

Annaleena Jämsä, flute, Simeon Overbeck, oboe and Hanna-Leena Savolainen, piano

Aaron Jay Kernis: 100 Greatest dance hits

Terapia Q: Lotta Laaksonen, violin, István Szalay, violin, Anne Korhonen, viola and Maija Juuti, cello featuring Janne Malinen, guitar

The second piece in the concert has changed. Instead of Ravel's work, the concert will feature Sibelius' Six Pieces for Violin and Piano. Otherwise, the program will remain unchanged. The Afternoon of Fauns resounds with the immeasurable diversity of chamber music. Swedish composer Madeleine Dring’s trio dances with neoclassical lightness, while Pulitzer Prize-winner Aaron Jay Kernis channels the pulsing energy of ’90s disco in 100 Greatest Dance Hits. Peter Maxwell Davies’s Sea Eagle sends a solitary French horn soaring on a breathtaking, virtuosic flight.

The concert is hosted by composer Minna Leinonen. The concert lasts about 2 hours including an intermission.
