17–18.30 Tanhujalostamo-seminar – folk intelligence or artificial art?

Discussion on the latest phenomena in folk dance and music. Oulu University of Applied Sciences senior lecturer, docent Pekka Isomursu will introduce the topic Folk art and artificial intelligence, followed by a panel discussion with Annamari Martinviita, Jouni Prittinen and Niina Rajaniemi. The discussion will be moderated by docent Petri Hoppu. The event will be streamed. Sampola auditorium. Free admission.

19–20.30 Tanssimylly 1

Folk dance showcase for groups of adults and youth. The groups are Sevoittarii, Huurteiset, Vinkkarit, Särmä, Karjalan Nuorten Kärri, Riijarit. Sampolan juhlasali. Tickets 15 € / 10 €/ 5 €

A dance piece set to music by Samuli Putro. Folk dance group Sevoittarii. Choreography by Maiju Laurila, music arrangement by Simo Helkala.

The intimate acoustic sound of two singers and two double basses gently invites you to dance a waltz, polka, hambo, schottishce, even a mazurka! Tampereen Ylioppilasteatteri. Tickets 15 €/ 10 €

The folk dance festival TRADI is an exciting combination of folk dance and music. Pispala Schottische spring festival brings to Tampere the latest trends in folk dance and the boldest works, where traditions take on a new form. The festival's program features new dance works that draw their content from rich folk tradition, but also boldly look to the future. The TRADI festival also organizes the Tanssimylly folk dance review, which presents the diversity of the genre from different parts of Finland. In the evenings, the atmosphere rises to the ceiling at evening clubs with dancing feet, where the rhythms of folk take you away. The folk dance festival TRADI continues the thirty-year tradition of the Tansimania event in Pispala Sottiis, when the folk dance and folk music concert and educational event Tansimania and the Tanssimylly viewing of folk dance groups over 15 years old come together in odd years. Pispala's Sottiisi in summer in even-numbered years and the annual Falklandia cruise in January continue in the Sottiisi family of events. An energetic and vibrant event is planned, where movement, rhythm and tradition meet! The folk dance festival TRADI is organized by Finnish Youth Association in cooperation with the city of Tampere.
