Maarit Heinonen is a skilled and versatile accordion player who has studied at the Tampere Conservatory from the age of 14 until the age of 21. The long-term education has created a strong foundation for her expressive and confident playing.
Maarit's playing combines technical mastery, strong tradition and the joy of performing - the end result is an exhilarating musical moment for the audience.
Maarit has successfully participated in several accordion competitions. She placed fourth in the Golden Accordion Competition in 1990 and represented Finland in the final of the Pietro Frosini Competition in Bergen, Norway in 1993. In 2022, she won the Accordion Player Championship, achieving 1st place.
