SURREALISM - A COLLECTIVE DREAM
The Surrealism exhibition deals with the world of the subconscious and the instability of reality through the works of avant-garde artists like Max Ernst, Yves Tanguy, René Magritte, Joan Miró, Man Ray, Salvador Dalí, Luis Buñuel and Claude Cahun and the work of contemporary artists like Cindy Sherman, Tony Oursler, Penny Slinger, Yayoi Kusama, Sarah Lucas and David Lynch. Central themes include identity, gender, technology and mental health examined from different perspectives. The media work of the world-famous contemporary artist and filmmaker Marco Brambilla Heaven´s Gate (2022) is shown in the basement gallery of the museum as part of the exhibition.
