Change With Light

In a New Light is a thought-provoking light art installation. The piece invites the viewer to consider how things can appear different when viewed in a different light.

The design language of the artwork is based on the circle, a symmetrical shape found in nature that symbolizes continuity and wholeness. Within the circle, there are two recognizable figures: a dove and a heart. The dove represents peace, which is much needed in today’s hectic and conflict-ridden world. The heart, on the other hand, symbolizes love, affection, and vitality, reminding us of what is truly important in life. In white light, the artwork, composed of colored discs, appears as a colorful circle, but as the light color changes, the figures emerge one by one.

The piece is designed to bring a moment of peace and love to the people of Tampere during the dark winter. It aims to pause the viewer for a moment, so we can remember and appreciate our loved ones and friends, regardless of how things may seem at the moment.

Window Walkabout is the largest art event ever in the Tampere Region (a.k.a. Pirkanmaa), where windows filled with light and art serve as stages.

The event will take place in October and November across 20 municipalities in Pirkanmaa, involving up to a thousand cultural creators.
